‘Narratives’ and “Statements’

I am not good at writing this stuff …

University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum’s Annual Review (gallery show)

Narrative explaining the focus and content:
Focus: For the past few months, I wanted to concentrate my creative effort on color that is easily overlooked. Plants, flowers and wildlife were a major part of this study.

Content: All of these images started and ended as photographs. After the initial shot, I either repainted the image or I enhanced the image with a mixed media effort, electronic color or filter enhancement. When the final piece was complete, I shot another photo of it, and these are included.

Artist’s Statement:
bl pawelek is a self-taught artist and photographer living in Middleton, Wisconsin. Although he likes to consider himself more of a writer than visual artist, you can always find him with a camera trying to capture the color. Currently he is only using the camera on his IPhone, some paint, and construction paper. He has recent artwork at Prick of the Spindle, The Centrifugal Eye and Leaf Garden Press.

Here are a couple of the images submitted …
