Teal Pond, UW Arboretum

A small family hike to Teal Pond, where we laid on the deck with fish nets and pulled things out of the swampy edges. Mostly shells and water bugs, every now and then a stray fish. A frog playfully out of reach.

Took a side trip on the way back, passing a huge white oak and the cattails of a different area. We chased a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly, trying to land it on a child’s finger.
