Road Trip: Middleton to La Crosse to Prairie du Chien

A road trip to go up north and start seeing the leaves change colors, some of the back country roads, to ride along the Mississippi back home.

We slide by Devils Lake, Mirror Lake and Blackhawk Island. Mill Bluff and La Crosse River. We visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe with its easy path and falling leaves. Quiet and peaceful.

At La Crosse, the Mississippi River looks more like a watershed as its starts to drain from Lake Onalaska. At times I can’t even tell it is a river during the southern trip down the 35 South. We see the coasts of Minnesota and the Iowa on the other side.

As we head back east, we follow the smaller Wisconsin river through the smaller towns. The forests close and the darkness of weaving roads.
