Creve Coeur (Broken Heart) Lake

Spent some time exploring this lake area during a work trip to Missouri. This little world, an oxbow lake, has been left behind by the Missouri River as its path eventually meandered to a different area.

Colder and colder as the days went by. Saw some white tailed deer with a young one from fall. Plenty of last year nests, high in the trees and gliding through the sky , a bald eagle.

A small dripping waterfall in the background. According to the legend, the lake was created by the tears of an Indian girl whose lover had died. Her “tears” are the Dripping Springs Waterfall. I move close to some of the dripping rocks, pool the water, and take a long drink. I pray for the girl, pray for the lover.
